about lauren
hello,
I am known for my passion for functional beauty. I see this in fashion, architecture, and technology. My largest determination of functionality is whether or not it is sustainable. Since I draw much of my inspiration from nature, it’s important for the things I create to support our natural environment.
I thrive in environments where I can put my creativity and organization skills to the test. I am a collaborative leader who works with empathy, curiosity, and playfulness. As a problem solver, I use my experiences, research, and creativity to achieve the best result for the user.
my journey to UX/UI design...
I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Art History which gave me strong background in art and its context in time and culture. As a student I was a classroom technical assistant, which gave me confidence in using technology and a desire to make it accessible and usable for all. With my technical knowledge blossoming, I began my career in event planning and quickly became the design coordinator for my department as well. Any creative project I could get my hands on I pursued, from digital and printed signage, to interior design, and one of my biggest projects, redesigning our client-facing website. I learned from this experience, that I not only was interested in making things look nice, I also wanted to make them functional and easy to use. Hence my interest in UX/UI design began. I took the leap to enroll in the Google UX Design Professional Certificate, and also did some independent learning for UI from people already in the field. After completion, I felt confident in this future career path and began taking on small projects.
